How to Manage Your YouTube Comments

The 1.7 billion people that watch YouTube videos each month have an opinion about them, and they love to voice it in the comments section. Sometimes, these comments can be hateful or even harmful. In other cases, however, they provide a valuable opportunity for engagement and community development. If you’re a video creator on youtube, then managing and engaging with your viewers’ comments can have a huge impact on the success of your channel.

To help you manage your youtube comments, the platform has introduced a new feature called Comment Highlighting. This feature automatically flags notable comments for you so that you can quickly find and read them. It also helps you to filter out essential and constructive criticism so that you can quickly respond to it. To mark a comment for Highlighting, you simply click on the timestamp next to the user’s name. Once marked, that comment will appear highlighted on top of the regular comments.

Comment Highlighting can be useful for both video creators and their viewers, but it’s important to use it sparingly. If you use this feature to reply to every comment, then your viewers will likely start to ignore your replies or even find them annoying. This is because they’ll have come to expect a certain type of response from you and will assume that all comments are equal in value.

Similarly, if you constantly respond to the same types of negative comments using the same canned responses, then your viewers may start to feel that you’re not listening or that you don’t care about their opinions. If you do have a comment to make, then it’s important that you take the time to read and consider it before responding.

Disabling youtube comments

If your YouTube channel has become a breeding ground for toxic comments, then one option is to disable YouTube comments on all of your videos. This will prevent people from spreading harmful messaging and also give you more control over the narrative of your videos. However, this can be a risky move because it can lead to fewer views and engagement. Additionally, if you’re a small team, then disabling comments can put a strain on your moderation resources.

To turn off YouTube comments, first open the YouTube app and tap the “Library” button in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Then, tap on “Interactions” in the History type panel and scroll down to the Comment and Replies section. From here, you can view and manage all of your past comments, including live ones. You can also edit or delete a comment by clicking on the three dots in the corner of the comment box. You can also change your preferences by clicking on the Preferences button in the Interactions menu. youtube comments
